Hey everyone,

I am trying to work on a friend's XPS M1330 Laptop. I've taken the whole thing apart in an effort to find out what it was (and to remove the cd from the slim drive he had stuck in there).

You press the power button, power light comes on, then goes away right away BUT the computer is running because if you press the power button again you hear the "pew" as the computer shuts off.

I am guessing it is:

Motherboard Battery

but I'd like to cancel out what I can.

After opening it up my friend is telling me when he turns it on he just has red or blue colors on the screen. (but that could be because I plugged in a cable wrong I suppose).

Any ideas!? :)

Before you took it apart was it having this problem?

If so, then you are probably looking at a MB issue.

If not, you are looking at a technician issue :)

Nope, took it apart because of this issue hehe :)

I'd be happy if I could at least narrow it down for the guy so he doesn't buy a mobo battery, then a cpu, then a mobo before figuring out the problem.

Plus I'm curious!
