no audio sound in windows xp after installing

May 23, 2011 at 21:28:11
Specs: Windows XP, amd 64 x2 5000
i have gigabyte motherboard GA-M61P-S3 with builtin video card and sound realtek.. i have installed windows xp sp3, and after installing d usual basics and working fine, i installed winfast product: WinFast TV2000XP Global (tv tuner with fm).

i have downloaded their latest drivers and app for this product to make sure it should work but unfortunately all my windows sounds are gone.. i have direct x10 and k-lite codec pac ver 7.10 for added info if it means anything to do with my problem and solution.

i have installed and removed this device and it really proves that without this winfast tv tuner card all my sounds and audio does work. if i install it again, no sounds even in windows.. NO ERROR messages whatsoever.. just no sounds, that is the problem..

so how do i solved this mysterious problem of no sounds in windows? and of course in my tv tuner?

thanks,

reggie

... with the "tv tuner card" installed/enabled

... click "start" run (type) mmsys.cpl [press enter]

... next click the Audio (tab) look under "Sound playback" Default device:

... can you toggle to the tv tuner card/sound card? ... click here (toggle example)

... click "start" run (type) sndvol32 [press enter] (might be sndvol64 in your case?)

... see anything that needs to be unmuted?

... worth a try!

@mavis007:

thanks to ur reply.. but those basic troubleshooting stuffs I have tried already in XP and it doesn't work.. 1 - it has NOTHING to toggle - it got only one choice, Realtek HD Audio Output.. and 2. - everything is NOT Muted.. i wish it could be that simple but it is beyond the common stuff usually covered..

anyway thanks for your help & reply..

Please remove your email address. We do NOT provide 1-on-1 tech support plus you should NEVER post your address in a public forum. The spammers will eventually harvest your address (if they haven't already), pass it out to all their comrades, then spam the heck out if you.

As for your problem, does the sound work normally without the TV card? If not, you need to concentrate on that 1st. Make sure the sound is enabled in the BIOS, the motherboard jumpers are in place (if applicable), & proper drivers are installed. Once you have the audio working without the card, THEN install it. You'll probably need a jumper wire from the TV card's audio-out to the motherboard's audio-in.

"i have direct x10 and k-lite codec pac ver 7.10"

XP doesn't support DX10.
