new video card quit working

Specs: Windows xp
no signal to monitor, bought new video card several weeks ago and it worked. Had to unplug computer to move it and when re set it up, no signal to monitor again! Can the video card be bad already?

If it's a PCI card, it might have to be reseated. Try that first.

I doubt the card is bad. The problem is most likely that you moved the computer & either knocked something loose inside the case or didn't reconnect something properly.

If the card was not fully seated originally but just enough to make contact, any movement could have lost that contact. Remove it completely and fully seat it again. Of course use antistatic precaution as always.

You also may be connecting the monitor to an integrated graphics port instead of the add in graphics card port. That is what riider meant when he mentioned you may have connected something wrong.

yes, i did try that. I also tried moving it to a different slot. I am not computer savvy, so i can only do the simple things!

looks like there is only one place to connect monitor. I did re seat card, nothing. Borrowed someone elses monitor and tried, that one says "in sleep mode, hit any key or move mouse to awaken". Did that, nothing.
