Specs: Windows 10
Anybody can suggest a softare or procedure to make an external drive only partially recognized bu PC, pleaseee?!?! (usb hdd or flash pen).

I had the same problem some times ago...A usb pen drive suddendly recognize ony a tiny portion of it. This time is a brand new 8gb pendrive that misteriously turn into a 2,43gb. It works fine within those 2+ gigs...but I need the other 6gb.

Anyone can help about this? I tried at least 3 file recovery software...and they all recover the files and all of em recognize an 8gb usb drive but at the end of the procedure the PC (3 different PCs) recognize only 2,43gb.

Need to act that I used the pen drive for tails and 2,43 correspond to the Tails partition while the 5,xx is crypted and now results hidden.

Any Help pleaseeee?

When looking at the pen drive in Windows Disk Management, what is the total capacity shown there and what format type is in use?

What is the brand and model of the pen drive?

Back when 8 GB was a large flash drive there were mislabeled intentionally. If you have managed to see close to 6GB in the past, then yours may just be failing. Flash media is the least reliable of all forms.

You should always keep at least 2 copies of any files you value. Even more for irreplaceable files, like photos that can't be replaced.

Try this freebie for data recovery - it worked here for someone when all others failed:

If you retrieve your data, reformatting the flash drive (from "This PC") might fix it but it would be taking a chance as it has already failed once.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
