Specs: Android 4.1, Intel Duo e8400 / 2gb DDR 2
I need a micro usb cable for my phone but all the connectors have changed. I keep seeing these usb 3.0 cables which has a sort of split connector. Will this work with the average phone which uses a micro usb connector?

Example on Amazon: http://amzn.to/19BhvOm

Your link says that the plug won't work with a USB 2.0 socket. You would need an extension cable, but why not just buy the correct cable in the first place?

Both the old-style cables and these new ones both say micro b and almost all the cables coming up in searches are of this new type. So the question was, will this be backwards compatible with older devices? But it looks like no.

If the manufacturer says that they are not compatible then I think you have to assume that is the case. In fact you just need to look at the plug to see that it would not fit into a 2.0 socket.
