New mobo and no display

April 29, 2011 at 16:48:19
Specs: Windows Server 2008, amd dual core / 4 gb
I'm working on an hp g70 laptop. A glass of water was spilled on the keyboard and fried the mobo. Now, I replaced the mobo and am testing. The cpu fan and hd spins, but no boot or display; no external display either. I'm wondering if there's something I'm forgetting?

Afraid I do not know a lot about laptops as of yet but if I saw the same symptoms on a desktop system I would check my power supply. It sounds like either not enough amps or maybe one rail gone bad. I have seen several now that will spin all the fans but don't send enough power (amperage) through the motherboard. Are you sure everything is connected good? Have you mounted any ram? I only ask because you didn't mention it.

No, not the power supply. RAM in of course. If the cpu were bad would that prevent POST?
