hi
i think my os id curupt so i've been trying to do a complete new install from cd.
but each time i try to do this i get the error "the version on the disc is older than the version on the computer"
what is going wrong
For one thing, you're not doing a "complete new install"...if you were, you wouldn't see that message. And the message itself should be pretty self explanitory. You're apparently trying to install an older version of Windows over a newer version.
its the same windows cd that i bought from currys
my pc won't even let me do a factory reset
Start the computer and put the cd in. Reboot. Make sure the cdrom is the first listed boot device in the bios.
Error message:
The cd may be the same used to install your OS the first time but it sees all your updates.....so by booting off the cd rather than your hard drive you wont get that message.Have you tried doing a repair install yet?
not done a repair install as i don't know how to
when it comes to the inside hardware/software of a pc i'm totally lost
