I bought a new charger for my compaq laptop, the light on it was yellow then turned green but now there is no light on at all and the laptop wont cut on
Does the new charger have the correct voltage and polarity for the laptop? Was the old charger bad or did you just assume it was bad or was it replaced for some other reason? The problem may be with the laptop or its battery and not the charger.

new chargers can be a lot of trouble as DaveinCaps says wrong polarity for one not enough power 2 .Thats why its usually best to but name brand from laptop maker which can be expensive .but sometimes you can buy your brand on ebay for less.thus off brands can damage your laptop also.
Also latpops also are know for the place where you plug it in as connector getting
worn out and not making connection any more.thud then having purchasing and replacing the jack assembly.
