Specs: WIN7 Home Premium
New build:
Win7 Home Premium
4G OCZ Ram
Pioneer DVR218LBK DVD/CD writer
Radeon HD 4670 1G video
Barracuda 1TB 32MB SATA HD
LG E2250T LCD monitor

Win7 keeps choking on install. Had three blue screens until now and have restarted . currently have 'setup is starting' screen and it has been up for about 45 minutes.

I am wondering at this point if I started the intall at the wrong place. I first started with the Win7 disc thinking it would prompt me to format the HD and then ask about various driver discs. A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing!!

Should I have started with the GigaByte driver disc? I aslo have video driver disc, DVD drive disc, monitor disc and the HD disc.

Bought the componets at Micr Center and they did a motherboard POST test (they assembled the MOBO, chip, fan and memeory install). I checked the MOBO manual and the memory is in the correct slots. I installed the video card in the PCIEX16 slot. The HD and DVD are SATA and plugged in. The HD does give an activity light and the DVD is reading the Win7 disc.

Any help or ideas appreciated!

Manually configure the BIOS settings, especially for the RAM. Do NOT rely on AUTO settings. Use the OCZ specs for speed, timings & especially voltage. Once you've done that, test the RAM with memtest86 or memtest86+ to make sure there's no errors. This should have been done BEFORE attempting to install the OS.

BTW, why is there no power supply in your spec list?

Thanks for the response! I was frustrated and did not think to include the PS- 500W - came with the new Sonata III case.

Your suggestion was spot on. The OCZ memory was faulty and once I replaced the sticks everything loaded just fine. I did not realize I could run the memory test before the OS was installed.

This makes about number six system build - a hobbist at best and probably know just enought to do some expensive damage!
