Netgear RN202readynas has failed

February 14, 2016 at 05:26:49
Specs: Windows 7
My 2-disk Netgear RN202 readynas (Raid 0) has failed. the drives are OK according to the tech from Netgear who remoted into the system to see what the problem was.
All my data was backed up onto another NAS with one exception.
It was raid 0 because I used the NAS as a backup and therefore the capacity was important.

As the disks are OK, how can I read the data from them on a PC please?

Many thanks

RAID-0 was an odd choice. If you're 100% sure the HDDs are good & your data is intact & you MUST retrieve it, you will likely have to get an identical Netgear box.

Assuming they are ext4 then you might find

https://www.paragon-software.com/ho... is useful

or perhaps an old version of gparted might be able to read & write ext4 file systems

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

I'm not sure what filesystem NETGEAR uses?

Good luck indeed. I ended up reading it with home NAS recovery software. It did not say it was BTRFS, but made a copy nonetheless. Other software I tried including R-studio, UFS, Diskinternals, every one took its time to scan but did not produce proper data (in trials). Home NAs is free for small cases, not sure if it is marketing or what, but copied the files anyhow.
