How do you "misconnect" the power? Plugs are made so that they can NOT be plugged in incorrectly, at least not easily. You would have had to really force that plug to get it to fit in upside down. Buy a new drive.

I'd contact Seagate.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

I tried to build an interface between a harddiskrecorder with a special IDE connection (over 50 pin centronics), and an external USB casing. Unfortunatly, the internal powercable of the USB-case was correctly coloured, but somehow
turned. So I mismatched the 5 and 12 volt lines, which really is not good for a pcb.
