I've battery & Tried to put new settings in (time and date) but can't understand some of the terms

Apart from the time & date, if you are not sure what the sections mean then it's best to leave them at their default settings. If you want to know a bit more then the motherboard manual will help - go to the manufacturer's website to download it if needed.

You're not going to get any help unless you post your system specs in detail....make/model of motherboard, CPU, RAM, video, etc.

And you should be posting in the hardware forum. You "question" has nothing to do with XP.
