Need help resetting Dell Latitude D510 laptop

Hi. I have a Dell latitude D510, and I need to do a factory reset! And it keeps asking me to put in a reset date! And then will not let me perform the reset! Can anybody help me figure out how to get this problem resolved! ?

It sounds like you're attempting a System Restore, not a factory reset. If you do a reset, you will lose all your files, software, & any updates installed since the laptop was new. Are you prepared to start from scratch? Did you at least copy off all your important photos & documents?

If you will explain exactly what's wrong, maybe one of us can suggest a fix rather than wiping the drive & starting over.

You say you are running Linux. Which particular variant is it?

You have put this on the hardware forum. If you have a hardware fault then no software fix will do any good because something needs repairing or replacing.

As per #1. You need to say what the problem is and what you are trying to do for us to give focussed help.
