The plain truth is - my employer is spying on me and its creepy. I work from home as does a large percentage of the employee base. We all have HP/Compaq laptops (mine is a Compaq 6910p). They tell us that they have the right to do key logging and anything else they want but the audio is a bit over the top. It's their computer but it's my house 24/7. So anyway, all efforts to mute the mic via software (i.e. clicking on the speaker icon to mute the mic, etc) are futile - the company has disabled these features (including the language bar).
Now I'm wondering if there is a service I can stop or a registry hack to try, etc. For now I have the mic volume turned all the way down and electrical tape over it. Any other suggestions short of opening the machine & doing circuit board hacks? I sure can't find it anywhere on the net.
Go into Device Manager and disable your audio by right clicking it and select disable. If that doesn't work, try booting into the bios and disable it there. Then look for a new job.
