Windows 7 with transparent window fx is very slow. What video card should I get to make Windows fx and videos faster? I can get a radeon 2600 pro, is it good enough?
my computer spec:

And make sure you have a decent power supply with a 6-pin plug for the card.

A 6600 should have no problem running the "transparent window fx" (called Aero Glass). I have an Athlon XP 2800/Radeon 9800 machine that runs Aero Glass nicely. It's not very demanding.

Can you tell us what motherboard or chipset you have? Use CPU-Z if you don't have the manuals handy. AGP graphics+Athlon X2 smells an awful lot like the nForce3. And under Windows 7, nForce3 stinks.

Yeah, looks like that's an nF3 250Gb chipset-based board. I really hate to say it, but unless you switch motherboards or buy a completely new system, you'll have to go back to XP for good performance. The problem is that with a dual-core processor, the nf3 doesn't know how to use the AGP bus in a way that Win7 expects.

Adding a Radeon HD 2600Pro (or the 4650 as jam suggested) will only make things worse; Win7 will completely turn off hardware acceleration as soon as you add an ATI card to your dual-core NF3 system.

The NF3 was a botched chipset from the beginning--it just took a new version of Windows to unveil its shortcomings. Intel and VIA chipsets from 2003 (and earlier) work fine under Win7.

I am not wasting my time downloading something that cost money that does not work. All I want to know is what video card is compatible with a reciently upgraded to Windows 7, 32 bit, Model W4885 E-Machine? not all of this other crap that I am wasting my time with look up on the internet. I was at Best Buy today, I don't think they are as geeky as they claim to be.
