I have a Toshiba satellite running Windows 7 home premium. My problem is the screen went totally black and I can't figure out what to do. The fan comes on and the power light, plug in light and charging light come on and stay on but I can't get it to do anything else. Can someone help me please? Someone told me it is probably in sleep mode with a software conflict.

With the computer "on" slowly raise and lower the screen keeping an eye on the screen to see if anything flashes up on it. If so it can be down to the cable between the base and the screen. They often fail at the hinge but can be replaced.

If that gets you nowhere then hook up an external USB monitor and see if that works. The idea is to prove whether or no it is the screen itself (or its connections), or the computer itself.

Thanks for letting us know. It could still be that cable because they usually produce an intermittent fault.
