If you CPU overheated then you computer would shutdown, just because there are 2 big fans doesn't mean it can't get hot or overheat.

What are your full specs, 'cpu' and windows XP is not good enough!

Try this program, its not compatible with the intel pentium 4- http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

You could be cooling the heatsink (the giant piece of metal with a fan on it) and not the CPU.

the problem is my computer was working very well for the rest of the fan is u know it is the fan people use on there room so when u open ur computer case and put something like that besdie the the cpu it self have fans already it become more effective some times the prossor fan was not working that was from long time ago but still that big fan did a good job so u think i should take a look on the prossor it self i think if the problem is about the cpu get over heated the hole computer should hang over not just the mouse because i am typing this message now and the mouse is not working i am using the keybord like a mouse and it is working will but it is really sucks and i am downloading that program now i had worked on fixing computers i never seen something like that before all what i know if prossor fan have a problem it do that problem after 30 minute or 15 minute from open the computer things hang over so i should change fan but first time for me to see that mouse hang over and no thing else i hope i do not end up buying usb mouse becasue it is not much here will i can find it for sure but i do not like the usb mouse

Have you tried another PS/2 mouse, some computer shops still sell them?

If the processor OVERHEATED then the computer would TURN OFF without warning unless you computer is really OLD.

Don't take the heatsink off unless you know what you are doing, don't try to be clever and take both the heatsink and the CPU out then come back and complain that you,ve got bent pins or something.

You put the fan against the HEATSINK, the piece of metal with a little fan on it , the CPU is a little square chip that processes instructions and is underneath the big piece of metal with a fan on it.

Plus if you take off the heat sink you MUST reapply the thermal paste- http://www.techpowerup.com/printart...

And can you type properly as it is hard for me to understand what your are saying as i don't type in slang and cut sentences so that they don't make sense.

If it's only the mouse that's not working--that is, the keyboard works and you can run programs--then I doubt it's overheating.

Does it work right in safe mode?

Run a malware/virus scan and see if it finds anything.

Check MSCONFIG--STARTUP again and make sure only what you need is checked. Check task manager too.

Well, it's an easy fix if it was just a problem with the mouse. It's odd that it works for awhile and then stops.
