My powersupply gives a red light help please?

Specs: None installed atm., i7 950/6gb 1600mhz
I decided to build my own pc and bought all components then i assembled them everything was done but when i turned the power supply on it gave a red light nothing more any solution or anything or have i done something wrong?

What red light comes on, what brand of power supply, what CPU and really the what list could go on and on. Does your motherboard have two power supply plug ins(one with 22-24 pins and the other one that is square with 4 pins, rather than one and are they both plugged in? On the power supply near the power cable there is a switch to choose between 220 and 110, what is it set to?

Well a intel i7 950 cpu and wich power switch you mean since there isnt one on it i believe....

Also my power supply plug for the cpu is 8pin and for the motherboard it's 24pin.

Nvm i've gotten the problem it wasn't working and it was a old one while the seller told me it was new.... anyways i'm returning it.
