My Pictures Task Sidebar

November 20, 2009 at 16:53:49
Specs: Windows XP
Somehow the "tasks" menu on the left-hand side of my "My Pictures" screen has disappeared; you know, the one that offers several options such as: move this file, delete this file, copy this file, etc. (I'm NOT looking for the LIST of files and folders that comes up when you click on the Folders button.) How can I get it back. I've clicked on every button there is already. Thanks so much.
Thwarted,
Neil

Dear Tufenuf,
You have brought a miracle to pass! All's well now except for two things: It used to be that whenever I added a new folder to my My Pictures files, after I closed it and reopened My Pictures the new folder would be slotted into it's correct place in alphabetical order. That no longer happens. Also, it use to be that when I deleted folders or files from the My Pictures folder, thereby leaving gaps in the stacks of thumbnails, and closed and opened again, the thumbnails and folders would have moved around to fill in the empty spaces. That no longer happens. Do you have any great ideas how to fix those things?
Thanks loads and loads,
Neil

neilinthegarden, Open your My Pictures folder and right click an empty space and choose Arrange icons by and click Sort by name. See if that corrects the problem.

Tufenuf,
Next you'll be feeding the whole forum with just a few loaves and fishes. Your advice was spot on and now I'm not staring at blotches of white space between the marooned files and folders!
Content for now.....

Neil, Open your My Pictures folder and right click an empty space and choose Arrange icons by and click Auto Arrange to checkmark it.
