Solved My PC won't boot up

May 21, 2016 at 08:39:03
Specs: Windows 10, Intel i5, 8gb ram
So, I bought a ssd and wanted to clone everything from my HDD drive to the ssd drive using aomei backupper. I clone something but it didn't work properly. The cloning made new partitions on to my ssd, and one of them had WinRe. I then thought I could clone the files back to my HDD, because I thought it didn't work. So I first put the WinRE partition in to my HDD, and my computer wanted to restart. So it tried to restart but stays in the same screen loading and saying the same thing. It says Tentatives de reparation. This is French and am not sure what it is in English. It just stays there and I cannot do anything. If you know something I could do, PLEASE Help!

When I did clone job with AOMEI Backupper, I had been told that "When the system cloning is finished, we suggest you not to boot the computer from the destination disk directly. In order to make Windows bootable from the new HDD or SSD, please shut down the computer after system cloning is completed. And then disconnect the source disk and connect the destination disk to the socket of the source disk. The source disk could be plugged in another socket as a secondary storage device." And, it was successful. Maybe you should have a try and there is no need to clone again since your HDD and SSD have the exactly same data. Good luck for you.

"I then thought I could clone the files back to my HDD"

Why would you do that? Cloning does not affect the source HDD. By attempting to clone back, you most likely borked your Windows installation.

"It says Tentatives de reparation"

That means "attempts to repair". I don't know why it's in French.

Hold down the power button and force a shut down. then restart it and if it does not start properly, repeat but tap the F8 button repeatedly and look for the repair options there for you to try.

Most SSD drives offer cloning software free on their websites for download., When you get it up again, try from scratch with the recommended software. Make sure that you clone the entire drive or if this is not possible or practical, you need to clone the boot sector as well as the main partition. Numbering can differ on cloning software from Windows so make sure that you know the size of each partition to eliminate confusion.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Tentatives de reparation means it try to repair it. I cloned my OS once with Aomei Backupper and it made it. Did you remember to remove the old disk or to change the BIOS setting after cloning? Was there something like error message appeared then? For your data security, consult their Aomei first.
