✔ Best Answer
nope...you need a dvd player to read DVD's...CD players aren't capable.

"gold star cd-r cdr8482b"

All you had to do was google the model number. It's a 48X CD drive, not a DVD drive. And as a side comment - you need more RAM, 192MB isn't nearly enough these days.

Have you tried XP with 192MB recently? 512MB should be considered the minimum & even that can be sluggish at times.

I have an HP laptop that has XP pro SP2 and only 192MB....I only have deep-freeze instead of an AV and it boots up and moves along just as fast as my Win 7 with 4GB Ram and even faster some days. My win 7 is optimized for fastest performance.

SP2? Why?

And I don't know your laptop config, but I have NEVER seen an XP system perform decently with only 192MB, no matter how tweaked it is.

192M was a reasonable amount for Win 98.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

The only thing I learned is that you feel XP with 192MB runs as fast as Win7 with 4GB. lol
