Specs: Windows xp, 1.7/786
i can only type a e i o u in diff language dont know which but it appears like comma on top.tried to connect usb keyboard which works fine with my pc but doing the same thing when connected to my laptop pls help as i cant even get in without prompt password entry as administrator.

Does it sometimes type Y or sometimes W?

Seriously, if it's only typing vowels and it's doing that with more than one keyboard it sounds like malware.

Can you get into cmos/bios setup and see if some of the keys work there? Try booting to safe mode and see if you can get in. Or boot up with a cd or floppy disk and see if the keys work then.

hi D, i have rebooted the system but same problem! tried in dos mode all keys work fine there and strangely in dos mode what i get by pressing the ctrl key same time pressing any of the a e i o u converts them into spanish looking letters which are the one appearing when i m in windows not sure??????? tried on bios update even deleted driver and reinstalled it! unfortunately same again only aeiou keys accessible in wierd language,as all keys type ok in dos mode i dont think there is anything wrong in the key board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pls help any one?????????

It looks like you might have a sticking ALT key on the laptop keyboard. Connecting a USB keyboard is only attaching an extra input device and does not disable the inbuilt keyboard. Therefor when you try using the USB keyboard the sticking key on the laptop keyboard is affecting both keyboards.

Yeah, that sounds more likely. I remember googling the problem and a few others had posted that problem but I didn't see any where they had figured it out.
