My HP Pavilion Will Not Turn On

September 15, 2011 at 16:36:01
Specs: Windows ME
A friend gave me a used HP Pavilion desktop computer. When I turn it on nothing happens. I took it a part and pulled out the motherboard cable, then put it back in. I tried hooking up the hard drive to an older computer and the hard drive works fine. But the older computer’s mouse does not work so I want my HP tower to work. The HP has not been used for a year so I think the PSU is bad, but I don’t want to buy a new one unless I have to. What should I do to fix it?

If it doesn't power up, there's no way to tell until you replace the psu. Maybe call a local repair shop to see if they have one. They usually will have one cheaper than purchasing a new one.
