Solved my harmony 650 universal remote needs new batteries often

Specs: Windows XP
why does this happen,the dearest to cheapest batteries do the same thing, this was not a cheap purchase either, and it is frustrating. thank you

I find the best thing with this sort of device is to use rechargeable batteries. I believe that yours takes 2 AAs, so a set of 4 would allow you to have two charging whilst the other two are in use. You'll save a lot of money in the long-term.

The only other suggestion I can make is that you ensure that the device is configured to go into sleep mode as quickly as possible and that the minimum of backlighting is used. I'm not sure if your particular remote allows thes values to be adjusted.
