my gateway desktop computer says frequency out of range

Specs: Windows XP
My Gateway desktop computer says "frequency out of range". I tried booting up in the "safe mode"...........I still get the same message. Any ideas?

Check your manual for the key to enter your BIOS set up (maybe F1, F2, Delete, etc) during boot up. Enter BIOS set up and 'Reset Defaults'. If you cannot enter BIOS set up, reset your CMOS by unplugging the power and briefly moving the CMOS jumper and returning it to its storage position or by unplugging and removing the CMOS 'coin' battery and pressing the Start button 2 or 3 times and carefully replacing it the correct way again. Then try to reset defaults again as above.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Tap the F8 key at startup but instead of choosing Safe Mode, select Enable VGA mode. That should get you into Windows, then you can set the screen resolution to one that's supported by your monitor.
