It's probably a bad power supply.

Since it's only for a few seconds, I'd say it's possible.

It's plugged into a surge protector along with a few other things, like the printer and a lamp which both come on.

"I will move it to another power source when I get home"

Do you understand what is meant by a "power supply"? They're not talking about the wall outlet. eMachines is notorious for using crappy Bestec power supply units. The following pic is an example of a power supply:

Did it work before you blew the dust out?

NO, I did not understand what "power supply" meant. I am not techno savy at all. It did not work before I blew the dust out but it was making a funny sound and kocked up a couple times. Someone else shut it down and restarted it a few times and it worked. Then it wouldn't start at all so I cleaned the dust out. The dust was really bad.

This is a link to a web page that tells about a power supply. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_...

The photo is a unit that has been removed from a computer and the top was removed so it looks different a bit.

This link is some of the few thousands of versions that one can buy. http://www.google.com/search?q=comp...
