Did you recently re-install Windows?

Post the model of your computer.

When looking in Device Manager at the drive listing, double click on the drive and see what it says in the box under general.

In Device Manager, right click the sub-item with the exclamation mark and hit Uninstall.

Restart the computer and see if that fixes the issue. If you get a message about new hardware found wait until it has finished.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

An exclamation mark on a device means one of these..
1. The device cannot start
2. The device is missing drivers.

Never heard of the second case in a dvd drive since all of them are ready to go without any installation. So we're talking about the 1st case. Check the cables, make sure nothing is loose (do turn off your pc first). If all else fails, buy a new one, they are so cheap (15-20$).
