Specs: Windows 10
My dell monitor won't detect my VGA, I know my monitor's screen works because when I press the buttons on it while the VGA is plugged into my computer it says entering power saving mode. It also says there is no input coming from my computer. I left my computer on over night and in the morning, the monitor just wasn't working. If the monitor is saying there is no input then it points to a computer fault. I note what you say about the Xbox so I don't know what went wrong there. If you can borrow another monitor then try that to prove the point. You could also try your monitor on another computer (a friends perhaps).

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

My guess is the monitor is fine & there's a problem with the tower. The Xbox issue is likely due to the adapter. HDMI is digital, VGA is analog. You would need an active adapter, not passive.

The adapter works fine. I wasn't even using it when the monitor messed up.

Regardless, the problem is with the tower.
