My computer window opens randomly

March 19, 2011 at 11:17:58
Specs: Windows XP
Hi all, My computer window shows up randomly during my work. It is mostly accompanied by a string qweruiop798+ which appears wherever. Sometimes even the volume is minimized on its own.
Can anybody help please?
I found a similar problem in this forum, but this doesn’t work for that of mine:
Quot: I have a problem always once I start my computer. Every time, My Computer window shows up. Quot end.
And there was a solution as well:
Quot:Try---
In Windows Explorer or Control Panel,
click Tools in the Menu bar,
click Folder Options,
click View tab,
in Advanced Settings list, find and Uncheck
"Restore previous folder windows at logon" Quot end.

Be sure to check for viruses. When the window opens with that code, a virus may be doing something on your computer. So do a full scan of your computer!

Thanks RMT2, I did the full scan, but no viruses were detected. Tried more scans. Can that string qweruiop798+ have to do with the keyboard? Those letters are four and four next to each other qwer on the left and then uiop from the right...

I ask now whether that string pops up in My Computer as ie a hard drive. Or is it a actual pop-up window? If it pops up as some kind of removable media, check to see whether you have 2 keyboards plugged into the computer. This could also be representing an OS error. Like it is detecting a keyboard device, even though none other than the primary keyboard are attached. Also check System Restore. How long has this been going on? If it gets severely bad, then check for a restore point the computer made before this started happening. From my experience, it won't delete anything, but I would recommend backing up your important files.

If your keyboard is a USB or one of the Purple adapter ones, perhaps try another keyboard. For now, that is all I have to offer.

Hi RMT2 and thank you. That string appears in writing, in any application or in username fields in the IE application. I have only one keyboard plugged into my comp. All of the problems occur even offline. Thanks.

If it even occurs offline, then there is one more thing I could suggest:

1. Replace the Keyboard

The problem with a "ghost" in my comp is solved. I bought a new keyboard. Thanks, Bert :-))
