???scattered??? Don't know what you're saying.

Dell screen comes up then what do you see? Nothing? Something you can't read?

And...you don't click on F12 or any other F whatever prompt. You would press the F12 key.

Since it's showing the Dell logo OK maybe you've got a video resolution problem in windows. Assuming Vista has the same boot options as earlier OS's, start tapping F8 as soon as you turn it on. If you get a boot menu choose Safe Mode. If it goes to the desktop then set the video resolution to something basic like 800 x 600 or maybe 'adapter default'. Save and reboot to normal mode.

Hi,

I would suggest you to do Flee Power.

In case you have desktop, remove any 3rd party peripherals and power cord from your Desktop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the desktop.

In case you have lapop, remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Dell notebook, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop. This clears RAM and resets the hardware.

If the issue still persists then I would recommend running Dell Diagnostics. In order to run Dell Diagnostics from Hard Drive, follow the mentioned steps: Restart your computer. When the DELLâ„¢ logo appears, tap <F12> immediately. In the boot device list, highlight Boot to Utility Partition and press <Enter>. Under Dell Diagnostics Main Menu (see Dell Diagnostics Main Menu), select the extended test. If you get any error code, reply back on the forum with the error code.

Let me know the results

Thanks & Regards
