my computer takes 25 mins. to boot & then ok

Specs: Windows 64
Running Windows7 Pro with quad core desktop. Drive has been formatted & was running OK until I moved it. Now have checked nothing disturbed inside, deleted several programmes, & run several defrags & virus checks. Can anybody suggest next step other than dustbin?

"Drive has been formatted & was running OK until I moved it"

What do you mean by that? Did you take the HDD out of the 3.5" bay it was mounted in & move it to a different bay?

Could it be you knocked the HSF loose why messing around inside the case & the CPU is overheating & throttling back? If not, could it be you installed some sort of crap software after you formatted & reinstalled Windows?

I moved the tower not the hard drive. Sorry to mislead you & thanks for prompt answer. I have not loaded anything dodgy! It is all MS & AVG. Very little has been installed. I suspect something wrong in the bios? Ron. @ trones.

I guess you could try a restore point.

A few ideas. One is some driver is not found. Another is some file on the hard drive is hard to locate.

Hang up and live.
