my computer keeps writing ^Z

September 22, 2011 at 07:23:17
Specs: Windows 7
My laptop keeps jumping selection boxes e.g. when I'm on google it keeps jumping through everything you can select without me touching the tab or any other key. When I tried to reset it to factory settings it won't reset and it keeps repeatedly typing ^Z over and over in dos. Any ideas?

Start looking for stuck keys, if u can't find them replace the keyboard.

Hi, I have worked out that it is the f6 key (by using dos on another computer and pressing all the keys) but it doesn't seem to be stuck and if I plug in a keyboard it still does it. I don't know how to turn off laptops own keyboard... Thanks

U can disable the touchpad but not the keyboard. Start looking for another keyboard.

The only way to disable laptop keyboard is to disconnect it from motherboard.

F6 or CTRL Z. Do the CTRL and Z keys work OK?

Do you have any keyboard shortcuts set?

It's also often an UNDO command.

It's odd the keyboard is screwing up by printing a control character and not something random. Probably best to run a malware scan too.
