Likely something in the power supply has failed. Would strongly recommend (due to the "popping sound") that you leave it unplugged and have a technician take a look (unless you're comfortable diagnosing/replacing it yourself).

The power supply itself probably needs replaced, hopefully it is a standard power supply and not proprietary. You can sometimes smell a burnt power supply, sometimes it looks no different than a good one. My concern is sometimes a popping sometimes shorts out the mainboard as the power supply fails. Hoping that's not the case, power supplies are cheap enough, but I tend to agree with T-R-A, you may wish to have a technician check out the power supply etc, if that is all that is wrong it should not be an expensive repair.
