My computer just upgraded from XP to 7 and it freezes on start-up. While using XP the computer crashed unexpectedly while in BIOS and in the OS regularly. But now since upgrading it sometimes crashes and restarts in BIOS, but more likely it will continue till I log on and freeze with 5 minutes. Please help.
There could be many things causing the problems-it would help if you provided specifics about your computer. One thing to check would be the RAM-use a program like memtest, which can be downloaded and burned to a CD. I would also check temperatures in the BIOS if it will allow you to.
I have a biostar TP45 HP motherboard
Intel core 2 quad Q6600 CPU
3 1gb DDR2
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Video card
Win 7 OS
Hitachi 500gb HDD
Linksys wireless N network adapter
How long has your computer been doing this ? Did you make any changes before upgrading to Win 7 ? I assume this is an HP-is it still under warranty ? Again, can you stay in the BIOS long enough to check temperatures ?
got it from cyberpowerpc.com. It hasn't froze before, but has shutdown unexpectedly before. I ran memtest and got no errors. Haven't checked temps in bios yet, I'll that next.
