Specs: Windows XP
i think it may have had a virus. i tried to install the rebootin dvds but it doesnt wrk
i want to erase evrything & start again hw do i do this

If you mean the restore disks for your machine, you have to go into the bios and set your cd player as first boot device. Save the settings and exit the bios. Insert the cd and when prompted hit a key to boot from the cd. Follow the instructions to delete the partition and recreate it. Then install the os. If you can't do this, your hard drive is toast.

On some computers, F12 when starting will display a boot menu to select the boot device. CD or DVD.

Destructive restore is the option Dell calls it. Not sure on HP.

I hope your restore disk set is good!

It really helps if we know the manufacturer and machine model.....
