Specs: Windows XP
My Computer has windows XP and has been working fine since ive gotten it. Today I was playing a game and the game crashed and when i tried to restart the game it said please insert the proper CD. I tried several different CDs and DVDs and none of them would work. I went into my computer and when i opened the D drive it said that there was nothing there. The CD will not spin or try to read at all. I went through all the trouble shooting, updated everything on the computer, and even uninstalled and reinstalled the drive several times. (Im not very good with hardware issues on computers at all and have problems navigating all the XP menus please go step by step.) Thank you for the advice

sounds like the drive has failed. Since it won't spin up it is more than just a dirty lens. They are not economically repairable. Replace it.
