it's like this......because you can't! cd's once burned do not ever unburn themselves. Once the cd has been created and "closed or finalized" no more changes can be made regardless of it being a re writable. To be able to edit a cd-rw, the disk would have to be left open as a "multisession" disk. Even so, when changes are made on a re-writable disk it's not really editing the disk, the last file is marked invalid and is not read, while the new one with the changes is rewritten to the cdr....the more times you change and save say "your resume", it keeps rewritting your resume to the disk each time you save it to the cd-rw, this can go on until eventually the cd is full from having changed and saved to disk so many times on the re-writable. If it were actually editing what was on the cd.....you would never run out of room!

I used to be able to delete files from my cd-rw and even reformat it. Now I don't even have the menu to the left side.

Did you try right clicking the cd and choose properties, then see if you can change the files from read only to archive.

When I open properties; the only tabs that show are general, autoplay, hardware and sharing. I don't understand. I used device manager and uninstalled and rebooted to reinstall drivers, but still no way to erase or delete files from the cd-rw.

There is a limit to the amount of times a cdrw can be formatted and rewritten too. What burning software are you using? Was the cdrw finalized?
