My Asus K53E laptop not running at it's best.

Specs: Windows 7
I just bought my Asus K53E laptop about a month ago, here are the system specs
I5 Core processor @ 2.5 Ghz
6GB RAM
640GB harddrive
Windows 7
64bit OS
I believe that because its new and I dont have much programs besides a browser and an antivirus that came with it, something else must be wrong, because my laptop is just slow for the simplest things like opening a browser and windows, and at times i've had to restart it because it froze or takes waaay too long to respond.( My only hint is that it does not contain a strong graphics card, just a built in one.
Thanks in advance.

Try downloading and running CCleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download) and see if anything speeds up. A scan with Malwarebytes' wouldn't hurt either.

You've been helped by a 15 year old.

In addition to using CCleaner, get rid of all the Asus crapware (aka "bundled software"), & if you're using a trialware anti-virus program (Norton or McAfee), dump it & replace it with one of the lightweight freebies such as Avast, AVG, BitDefender, or Microsoft Security Essentials. And use MSCONFIG to manage your startup apps.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Thank you for the answers.
I did as suggested and i noticed that there was in fact alot of programs that came with the laptop that are from Asus itself. I deleted the built-in antivirus and installed another one from online. When i checked msconfig i saw that the asus programs were all starting @ startup, which i figure must be bogging down the pc at times. I also installed CCleaner aswell.

What anti-virus did you install? Some are better than others.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
