Asus Radeon hd 6870 video card

Specs: Windows 7
I just bought the new graphics card and i installed correctly and have met all the requirements but it is still not being read. The BIOS is set to PCI Express which is and all my drivers are up to date. My motherboard is an A780gm-A ultra and I believe it is compatible with the card. My dad says that it may be due to the fact that I only have one of the power supply cables plugged in but it is recommended that I have two. The only problem with that is I don't have anymore possible cables to connect it with.

If it requires 2 power connections, your father is right. The fan spinning means it's getting power, but not enough. If you don't have the connections, you will need to upgrade the psu. The 6870 requires 28 amps on the 12 volt rail, and a 500 watt psu. If you're going to replace it, look for a psu that only has one 12 volt rail, like the Corsair line. Open the case and look at the label on your psu. What are the amps on the +12 volt rail ? You may want to consider a different card.
