Specs: MS DOS, i3/4 GB
When the command MSD is given from MS DOS Command prompt following information are displayed In the LPT Port Menu :
When the Printer is connected, loaded with paper and switched on:
PORT : LPT1
PORT ADDRESS : 0378H
LPT ONLINE : YES
PAPER OUT : YES
I/O ERROR : NO
TIME OUT : NO
BUSY : NO

When printer is switched off or disconnected :
PORT : LPT1
PORT ADDRESS : 0378H
LPT ONLINE : YES
PAPER OUT : NO
I/O ERROR : NO
TIME OUT : NO

Though the paper is loaded and printer is switched on, it is showing that Paper out = YES. It may note that if the printer is switched off, it is showing Paper out = NO. Can anybody help me out?

Hi Vharidas,

Did it ever work on this pc?

Have your tried a different printer cable? or carefully reseating the existing.
Switch off pc and printer before disturbing.

What is printer make and model?

Can you check its paper out sensor. Is there more than one of these?
On a paper roll holder for example.

Are there any MODE commands in the AUTOEXEC.BAT? if so, what?

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

THERE IS A PROBLEM IN BIOS OF ALL INTEL DESKTOP BOARD DH61WW CLASSIC SERIES WHILE PRINTING TO PARALLEL PORT FROM DOS MODE. THOUGH PRINTER IS CONNECTED WITH PAPER LOADED, PIN NO. 12 OF LPT1 STATUS SHOWS PAPER-OUT = 'YES'. HENCE, NOTHING WILL PRINT WHEN A DOS PRINT COMMAND IS ISSUED SINCE BOARD ASSUMING THAT THERE IS NO PAPER LOADED IN THE PRINTER THOUGH PAPER LOADED. HENCE, BIOS SOFTWARE NEEDS TO BE UPDATED FOR GETTING CORRECT STATUS OF PIN NO.12 OF PARALLEL PORT...........SO THAT PROBLEM CAN BE SOLVED.............
