Solved moving RAID array as a whole to new machine

April 30, 2013 at 01:48:39
Specs: Windows 7
currently have win7 with 2 HDDs in RAID1 configuration.

On new system I plan to have system installed on a new HDD, and transfer the RAID1 disks for data.

My MB has a single SATA controller.
Questions:
1. if I configure controller as RAID, would it support 1 standalone disk + 2 in RAID1 ?

2. If I transfer the RAID1 disks to new MB, will the RAID structure be maintained, or will the disks be wiped when constructing them as an array on new machine?

thanks.

✔ Best Answer
Moving from one intel onboard controller to another, preserved the RAID configuration.
All data remained on first disk, when I added the second disk it went through a rebuild process, which didn't actually matter much.
