Mouse touchpad Frozen on Toshiba laptop

Specs: Windows 7
My dad bought a new laptop about 2 weeks ago and today when he booted it up, the mouse would not work at all. I ran virus scans and have found nothing. When we plug in an external mouse, it works fine, so this is obviously a warranty type issue, but I was going to see if anyone here could offer a solution before we have to send the computer off. The computer is a Toshiba L675 with Windows 7 and from what I have researched online, this seems to be a common problem.

HAHAHA HA, that sounds like a good case of touch-pad-turned-off... have you tried the combination on the keyboard like; FN+f7 ?

No I haven't. I went into the control panel and the touchpad was activated, just not working. If that is all that's wrong I'll be relieved but ticked bc I spent all morning working on it!

HAHAHA I'm so mad I could spit fire right now-yesterday he had been online and the computer froze up so he went to hitting every key on the keyboard and hit the button above the touchpad that apparently turns it on and off!!! I'm so embarrassed I even made a post for this problem =] Thanks for the hint bc he was about to take it back to the store so that would've been embarrassing!!
