I got an old fixer-upper here. It is a Dell Inspiron 3700. So everything works, it runs XP Pro SP3, but the mouse pad won't work. It is the same with the track stick in between the B, G, and H keys. I have all external mice unplugged (or would you rather say mouses?). Do I need to download a special driver for it or something?

Also, this happens always whether the computer is docked or undocked.

The specs to the laptop are:
Processor: Intel Pentium 3 @ 500 MHz
RAM: 1 256MB Chip
Hard Drive: ~3 GB
OS: Windows XP Professional With SP3

UPDATE: Windows also does not recognize the touch pad.

SOLVED!!! I removed the keyboard to the laptop to find that the cable connecting the mouse pad to the motherboard was lose. I reattached it and presto! No driver needed. Thanks to anybody who did research to try to help me solve this! :)
