In Device Manager are there any errors showing on USBs?

Most likely the port itself - some wire that only applies to mice.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

My suggestion is to use other port for the mouse.
Some USB ports are run via an internal hub or expansion chip on the motherboard. These are best not being used by keyboards and mice. These ports often need additional drivers and may not work before the Windows loads the driver. Sometimes Windows Update delivers drivers or makes other changes that eventually need updated drivers to run properly again. One of these may be your issue. You can go to manufacture's web site, Support, Downloads, Drivers and download and install all current drivers, starting with chipset drivers first.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
