It's not worth it. If you're willing to invest in a new board & RAM, you may as well go all the way & get a new CPU & video card too.

Well how about adding it with a 3Gb kingston for the ram memory. And I think there is a 1Tb of HDD look for a really good brand. Also make sure you buy a video card of 512 or 1Gb memory would be enough. remember don't share memory for the on built in mother board video card to get it to it's top performance. Once you get it running look for a really good Anti virus to keep it clean from any malware that causes slow ups. Well that all I can add to it.

AMD has gone thru several socket changes since the old socket A...754, 939, AM2, AM2+, AM3. You'd be updating a system that's at least 3 generations behind the times. It only supports up to 2GB of DDR333 RAM & AGP8X (1.5V only).

BTW, the board is an A7N8X-VM, not "X7N8X-VM". Is it an actual retail board or are you asking about an OEM system that uses the A7N8X-VM, such as a Fujitsu Siemens or HP/Compaq? Are you running an AGP video card or onboard graphics?
