Specs: Windows 7
When I tap on my keyboard to start my monitor, I get a light blue screen. I have to turn the computer off and then on to get the monitor to come on.

Can you give us your computer specs ? It sounds like it could be a power supply issue, or maybe a loose connection somewhere.

I have checked the connections and they are fine. I have a Dell with Windows 7. It has a TB of hard drive. The monitor is a Proview.

I have the same problem with my newer Dell with Win7! The PC sleeps then I come back and tap the space bar. PC awakes and the monitor white light that indicates it's awake comes on but I have a blank screen. Have to reboot every time which is annoying. HELP!

If you're using a desktop, which I assume you are, don't use hibernate or sleep mode. Those features were designed for laptops to conserve battery power. Instead, go to power option in control panel and specify when you want the monitor to turn off. Choose never turn off hard drive. Then all you have to do is shake the mouse to restore the monitor. The savings in electricity by leaving the hard drive on won't even be noticeable. If you're not using the machine for long periods of time, just shut it off. A clean machine should boot up in minutes.
