Monitor Warning Signs

This monitor is almost 10 years old so I won't be surprised if it is time...

I have an old Gateway EV910 monitor. It has worked fine for so long until a couple days ago. Now, when I am working on my computer, it randomly magnifies everything on the screen, everything gets darker, and it slowly un-magnifies while there is a high-pitched sound coming from it. Also, when I turn it off, there are some small pops coming from the inside. Is it close to the end for my monitor?

I don't think there is any question. I am not sure if that is a dangerous condition or not but I suggest you immediately stop using it.

Yeah I'd stop using it too. I've owned 2 MV910 units, and I think they're the worst monitors ever made (or atleast the most hated model of mine). The first one refused to work half the time (unless I hit it on the side, then it would). The second one was better, but they both were pretty dim on the highest settings. They both made a weird sounding buzz when I plugged them in.
