My monitor will go to a black screen all of a sudden. I have to turn it off and on while clicking on things to shut it down and restart the computer. It is a MAG monitor

Bit confused when you say

"I have to turn it off and on while clicking on things"

what do you mean by this?

When the monitor goes blank what are you usually doing? playing a game? word processing? surfing the net?

You may want to check a couple of things

1) update your graphics card driver
2) check that your graphics card is seated properly into your motherboard
3) check the temperature of your CPU
4) check your heatsink/fan assembly to ensure its clean and seated correctly

i may be wrong, but when you say your monitor goes black i think it may be a problem with your pc in general rather than your monitor itself. Obvioulsy this is an asumption until you can shed some more light on the matter.

Sounds like the monitor is failing. Is this a CRT (tube) type monitor? How old is it?

Try the monitor on a different computer or try a different monitor on that computer to troubleshoot the problem.

My monitor would do this (it was a CRT). So like OtheHill said, it could be the monitor failing. When mine did it, I was able to 'save' it for a week longer by beating on it everytime it went blank... and it worked consistently... (NOTE: I DO NOT recommend beating on your monitor) It turns out the flyback was going. If it doesn't turn out to be the monitor though, I guess it could be the graphics card... sounds like the monitor though. Especially if it is a CRT.

please remember to reply with results so we know whether a solution worked or not
