Monitor suddenly gave out

May 26, 2010 at 21:09:53
Specs: Vista home
Earlier tonight my monitor suddenly gave out. When it's
plugged in it shows no image (no start up or anything)
If I keep it unplugged the monitor shows the self test
feature check thing (so it's showing an image) although
if I plug it back in it immediatly goes into sleep mode
(green turns to orange). Any ideas what I can do? My
guess was maybe the graphics card or
something...thanks in advance.

Alright, I'll get back once I can try that out. Til then, the other
thing I'm noticing is that I don't think it's booting into the OS
anymore...I tried plugging in my phone to give it a charge after
leaving the comp on for a few and it's not connecting to
anything.

It sounds like your PC is dead and not the monitor. If you do not get the 'normal' single beep when you power on, that pretty much confirms it.

Well then...if that's the case, then what are my options?

You have a hardware problem. You could take it in for repair. If you want to try and fix it yourself, I would start by swapping out the power supply. But the problem 'could' be the motherboard, or something connected to it.
