Monitor not working correctly

June 5, 2009 at 22:58:19
Specs: Windows XP, 2.009 GHz / 1023 MB
The monitor on this notebook suddenly is displaying the top of the screen correctly, the middle is blank and the bottom is acting like it wants to work but looks like an old tv with the horizontal hold going berserk.
I have removed the battery, hard drive, RAM and cleaned them and their areas of dust, and reconnected them. No change.
I restored the computer using its built-in restore and it still is doing the same thing.
Any suggestions?

I think your monitor is going out.

I assumed the same thing, though I want to eliminate all possible reasons before I incur the cost of the monitor.

It could be the LCD Inverter. Much cheaper than a replacement LCD. Try it first. LOL <quote>I think your monitor is going out.</quote>

Is there any way to determine which is the problem, the monitor or the inverter?
